If you thought that just by stopping education for woman and prohibiting them from moving anywhere without a male escort and having them covered from top to toe would the satisfy the Taliban’s appetite, you are mistaken.
Think again...the latest missive from the Taliban is that women should not be registered under the NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority)...and should not be issued with National Identity Cards…They say it is un-Islamic...
It’s a simple solution to a complete, if you are not registered... you are not a citizen. If you are not a citizen…it means that you have no rights and not entitled to anything…except being a plaything of the Taliban…as we have read where they have forced girls to be given to them in marriage…
Any crime...any barbaric act will go unpunished…as you are not a citizen…a simple way to keep woman where they belong...as practiced by the Taliban…
They have further threatened that the NADRA offices would be attacked it they went ahead with issuing the ID cards...plus that the women too would have to face severe consequences if they went to the NADRA offices…
Are woman only for Bed...and Breakfast… Is this lack of love...affection...rights and privileges…to woman...the reason why the men in such a society turn fundamentalists from a very small age and are heartless...with a blind vision of Islam?

These people who are claiming the imposition of Sharia Law in NWFP are a group of lunatics, psychpathic barbarians who are really a disgrace to name of Islam. All they want is to control women, grow long beards, marry little teenage girls multiple times and blame anyone who does not agree with their interpretations of Islam of being tainted by "west". The best way to deal with them would perhaps build a large psychiatric facility to treat their bizzare behavior problems.... or just add some antipsychotics to their food and water supplies. By the way, who is supplying with all these arms ?

Perfectly put...the only problem is who will bell the cat...as all this has happenned with the active involvement of Pakistani and western agencies starting from the cold war days....to combat the russians..
At least now all the nations should get together and wipe out this menace...as other wise the repurcussions are going to be huge....and all of them bad..

Well a really nice question... and such naive answers...
probably the world truly needs people who can think as simply as you do. then we would be rid of all the complications that go in. what a lovely world that would be.
about the arms, well there are countries which look at all the money involved in the arms trade as business and go ahead and sell arms to anyone who is ready to pay the price without thinking of the consequences.
at one time, it was the americans, who used to supply the arms. that was the time when the taliban forces were used in their war against russia. now there are countries like China who see this opportunity as a way to accumulate more money. yes, at the current situation, pakistan based terror outfits as well as the talibans procure arms from China.

Watching the effects of terroism is quite awesome. Terrorism is a suckers game that the US fell for. I am surprised that Obama is adding more troops to Afghanistan. Geez, does anyone running this country have a brain anymore?

You cant walk away from the effects as this was an outcome of active Pakistani state and the western world support to create these groups to fight the russians in the first place...
After that the west walked way and the pakistani state was more interested in controllibg afghanistan with recognition of the taliban and causing terrorist messes in india....(yes we in india suffered as a direct outcome)..
Its the twin tower destruction that again brought action on this front when the world woke up to the monster it created...
and its not iraq....here the world has to get together and put an end to this menace once and for all...not by yeilding...rather this calls for a strong and prolonged action...till the last element is not wiped out..
if not the future will be very horrible to contemplate...

It seems like that...but it is not all ISLAM...only particular sects and the reason is lack of education and economic freedom...
The women are more like slaves in these sects...and the world has to come together to put an end to this...its not about religion...it is more for the betterment of the future..
as peace dels with this kind can only produce more of harm..

Even our animal pets are registered.
So to be born a female there - is not even worth registering, so it means no accountability if they should ceased to stay alive because they didn’t exist in the first place.
So if the day should come and they are ever be made accountable for crimes against humanity, women aren’t human to them and they won’t be counted.
I wish there was an escape for these poor women some how - and just leave these revolting men to play their war games with themselves and each other.

In fact the horses and pets are better off there.Yet if something is not done...we may well have these medevial bunch of rouges with control of drugs...arms...and worse the nuclear bomb...and that will be terrible since the whole world will be at their mercy..
Just imagine...any of the terrorist organizations will ahve a safe sanctuary...and access to the bomb...akin to the rise of Osama and the sept 11 attacks...with a allsmbly line of suicide bombers..
In fact you will also be surprised that they are forcing the woman to carry drugs...arms...and becoming suicide bombers...
The whole world needs to extreminate this threat...it is not a religious fight at all....though the Taliban claims to be the torch bearer for Islam..

If the taliban claim they are the torch bearers of Islam and are doing these inhuman atrocities in the name of Islam, then I don’t - see, hear or notice any thing very much coming from the decent Muslim people, who should be standing up and condeming these vile lunatics who are defiling their God and their religion.
People around the world can see whats going on and are loosing their tolerance and respect - blaming the Islamic religion because these taliban are hijacking the Islamic faith to use as a weapon along with their swords and artilery creating a fear frenzie to conquer - petrified people who will convert to anything just to survive.

Somewhere there what is happenning is that these elements have got well connected elements...in government...business...industry along with them
And the moderate muslim just does not feel that they can change things...this is a wrong thought....one Gandhi...or one Martin Luther King...or one Mandela...could become symbols of hope...that made so many believe..
now too the moderate muslim has to wake up...and why is it that dialouge will not work...let there be a meeting of faiths...and a global vote...
But somewhere there we need the governments to work for the common good...not for narrow political and lobby interests...what say???

I agree, I have known and worked with some lovely ordinary muslim people but I don’t understand why they look the other way, knowing what is happening.
Governments are supposed to work for the good of the people but with some individuals in these governments - they succum to greed and ego power trips.
All heads of governments and nations should get together lay their cards on the table and stop stupid primitive wars to best work out the stratergies for improving the status for all people around the world.
May be one day a good strong muslim man a leader with integrity and insight will rise above the heap and be like Ghandi or Martin Luther King, who knows.

This is devastating... and what’s even more devastating is the fact that some people are actually following these man-made teachings, and others are attacking Islam for it...
Even in india ...we have seen a lot od discrimination in the old ages in the form of a caste system...but we have managed to rise above it due to activism and leaders who were statesmen..
what pakistan needs is statesmen as leaders who raise above politics and narrow mindedness and figh this cancer...
as otherwise the spread will be very fast and have terrible outcome for the world...
The main symptom is lack of educational and economic opprtunities...
if all the money spent to wage war against the russians and now against the taliban was spent for betterment of facilities and empowerment....this place would have been heaven..
