SAARC or better known as the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation is there from many years now and has made some or rather minimal progress to truly be a working forum for cooperation. This has more to do with the problems between India and Pakistan.

However the shooting at the Sri Lankan players in the heart of the city in Pakistan and the Bombay attacks make it highly desirable the forum gets its act together.

Add the LTTE problem and the BDR mutiny in Bangladesh...Along with the Maoists in Nepal...Add the Taliban in Pakistan...and Afghanistan...the Naxals in India...Drug Mafia...Underworld...Religious Extremists...Insurgency in the North East...In Kashmir...Muslim Extremism in China...it seems that we are sitting on huge loads of dynamite just waiting to be blown up...and no one knows when and where the next explosion will be...what shape and what form...

Just after the incident some youth of Pakistan were asked how they felt...to quote they said that they were embarrassed and harassed by what had happened and the entire country was being tainted and put to problems by a handful of misguided youth and policy makers...so sad and yet so true...

The inaction and the support in Afghanistan has put Pakistan into a position of becoming a failed state...yet it is not just Pakistan that will suffer...rather the entire region...and terribly...the west can walk away...as they have done so in the past ...which led to the Osama and Taliban problems...what’s to stop them now...

It is up to the governments of all the countries to stop political posturing and set up a security mechanism under SAARC that will have investigative powers and representation of all the Nations including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and can also have a guest presence in China if necessary...Afghanistan too will be a part of this set up...

This agency should be empowered to have joint investigations into all the terror attacks as well as it should act to preempt anything of this sort in the future...Rather than only investigate and get to the bottom of what...and how...the attacks happened...it should also interact closely with the Interpol...FBI and other agencies to wipe out terror...a special force can be later set up with common command...

This is the need of the house and a want and requirement of every citizen...Let Peace once more flow with love and brotherhood among all of us here...

The question I ask ...will the rulers and politicians as well as the vested interests and western powers make this happen...if yes...then the terrorists...drug mafia and the anti social elements will have no place to run...
