Continuing from where I left off yesterday...the auction is over and the items purchased by Vijay Mallaya...with a commitment to gift them to the Indian Government...the entire episode has come to an end...
But what exactly is it that raised all the din in the first place....that someone was auctioning Gandhi…his things...things that speak for his presence in the world at some point of time....striding like a colossus among mere mortals…
Daring to do the impossible...with a simple belief in love...truth...and humility...decency...making strong points by simply walking...as he did to Dandi...the salt march...small steps for a great and noble cause...
Fasting and Satyagraha....simple fundamental ways for self purification....and Nation achievement...humanity or something similar to god?
But what exactly is the point being made with the publicity and involvement of everyone with the auctions...is it only a media hype and a way for publicity seeking...as the Gandhigiri in the movies…
Do we only honor him in the movies and in his belongings...without honoring him for the things that he left us with...his thoughts...his teachings...his attitudes...his dreams...his vision for our country...
Did he not pray for all of us...did he not fast for unity...did he not beg for religious harmony...did he not teach about sharing and taking care of the poor...oppressed…meek…Did he not want decency and probity in public lives...
Do we even remember and realize…that how far away we have gone after he has left us...Is this why that our guilt manifests itself in this manner where we react to the sale of his belongings and invoke his name without a cause...is this our way of confessing that we are not good enough to bear his torch…and walk the cause...aren’t all of us Guilty???
Is That why we call him a Maha Atma (Mahatma)...the Great Soul...and us as non atmas....without souls? Is it also not so telling on us that it is Liquor money that purchased Gandhi?

things are being returned to India where they belong.
He is a national treasure.
Any mention or publicity of him or his name always brings to peoples mind of his struggles and great wisdom something humanity should remember and strive towards.
